Tne tune is in The Quakers, and other ballad operas; also in Pills to purge Melancholy, 2. 5. 1719, with the words. It is there entitled, " A new song, inscribed to the brave Men of Kent, made in honour of the nobility and gentry of ttat renowned and ancient county."
Some of the stanzas are still sung at social public meetings in the county of Kent, and others have been added from time to time. |
